“We cannot lag behind others in the GMO research…” “Food derived from GM crops are healthier…” “Other farmers are benefiting all over the world…” These are glimpses of opinions by country representatives regarding the adoption of GM technology or production of genetically modified crops.
While China continues to support the technology, Nigeria and Kenya have recently realized the importance of it. The prime reason behind GMO rejection remains to be lack of understanding of the science behind the technology and their safety. A marginal group of people, who have failed to understand the concept, make assertions on their fallibility, which is entirely undesirable. Amid various consents and denials, where is India standing in the race? Does the country even believe in the technology? While African stakeholder are ready to adopt the GM crops for their considerable advantages, China continues to put efforts into studying GMOs, understanding their safety and spreading a good word in the society.
A recent study by Institut de l’Environnement et de Recherches Agricoles (INERA), the country’s agricultural research institute, showed that Bt cotton farmers gained about 31% yield increase. – Dr. Jean-Noel Poda, Minister for Science and Technology (Burkina Faso)

Very nice! GM crops should be supported and the news well spread.
