Apple Inc enters Healthcare Province with its ResearchKit. With its new “ResearchKit” software platform, it is turning iPhone into a diagnostic tool drawing medical data from millions. While smart phones have long been pampering our social media impetus, letting us scroll through our inboxes or even lazing around with the distracting games, lesser have they been explored for tackling far weightier tasks – such as battling diseases.
ResearchKit researchers will have to make extra efforts to ensure that participants are eligible for studies, that they are knowledgeable about the risks, and that their data is secure.
According to a study, more than 60% of the American teens have iPhones too and that’s the major hitch- minors aren’t supposed to take part in the medical studies without parental consent.
